Friends,
I took the plunge late last year and went freelance - by starting up my own business, and so far so good - I seem to be able to keep my head above the water so far... ! My business idea is to sell services in custom map design, visual communication (charts and diagrams) and geography/geomatics/GIS. Not only the creation of visual pieces, but also training in map making and communication with visuals. I can't really drop the "fun stuff" either, so I may continue a bit in web programming, such as SEO and coldfusion - I am currently closely following the Open Bluedragon project, as well as the Sava CMS (and I have done minor contributions to both).
Not too long ago I also launched my website - powered by OpenBD and Sava -
Nordpil - freelance mapmaker, custom maps, visual communication (charts, diagrams) and geography and GIS.
So wish me luck, and let me know if I can assist in any way!
By the way - I am currently looking for moving my site (and some other stuff) to a dedicated server (linux) - any recommendations are welcome!
